Engr. Md Al-Amin Chowdhury

Social Islami Bank PLC has welcomed Mr. Shafiuzzaman as its Managing Director who has joined the bank on March 27, 2025. Board Members and Executives received him with bouquet in SIBL’s Head office in City Centre, Motijheel, Dhaka.

Prior to assuming this role, Shafiuzzaman served as Additional Managing Director & Chief Credit Officer at Bank Asia PLC, where he played a key role in credit risk management, corporate asset marketing, and strategic banking operations.

With an extensive career spanning 31 years in local and multinational banks & financial institutions, Shafiuzzaman brings a wealth of expertise in branch banking, corporate banking, credit risk management, and special asset management. His 14 years of experience as Head of Branch in Dhaka City and 10 years as a Division Head have enabled him to develop a deep understanding of the banking sector’s evolving landscape.

Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in driving institutional growth, leading centralization operations, and designing innovative asset and liability products. His leadership in credit administration, recovery management, and corporate social responsibility has significantly contributed to the success of the institutions he has been associated with.

Shafiuzzaman began his career in 1994 as an Executive at United Leasing Company Limited (now United Finance Limited) and later spent 14 years at ONE Bank PLC, where he held various leadership positions.

He holds an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka, and is recognized for his strong leadership, strategic vision, and expertise in relationship management, credit assessment, and recovery.
